As part of the “Outside the Box” series at the Literaturhaus Freiburg, the Storytelling Engines showed their scenic comic reading “In the Hall of Mirrors”. The combination of atmospheric storytelling and expressive drawings took the audience on a fascinating journey between fantasy and reality.

Unexpected transformation on stage
I, Faye Ryan, was not originally scheduled to be part of this production. However, I spontaneously stepped in during the live show to create an impressive make-up transformation right on stage.
This spontaneous makeup not only gave the characters additional visual depth, but also completely immersed the audience in the story. It is always a special experience when viewers can see a role come to life in real time.
Creative exchange and lively performance
The collaboration with the Storytelling Engines was as spontaneous as it was inspiring. In a very short time, a harmonious combination of read scenes, comic illustrations and live make-up was created, which led to an intense stage experience. The audience was amazed at how different art forms merged together and brought a story to life.

A look into the future
This experience has shown impressively how much live performance and make-up can enrich each other. I look forward to contributing to such unique moments with my work in the future and discovering new creative ways on stage.
